February 17th, 2009a duck says quack

Where I’m from, the Netherlands, we have a political party dedicated solely to animal rights (seriously!) and I figure they’d probably take offence at the Peking ducks on display here (in Singapore). On the other hand, where I live now, France, the party for hunting and fishing (seriously!) probably would take offence at there being a party for animal rights. Don’t you love cultural differences? As for me, I just don’t recommend using this image to learn your kids all about what the duck says…

February 6th, 2009hey look, a new website!

As I promised some time ago, I finally present you a revamped website! From now on everyone can comment on each post I dump on the unsuspecting visitor. Hope you like it and drop me a note if you run into any problems. On another note, I met the cute girl above in a dirt-poor village on the North coast of Bali. I thought I’d give her at least a small part of her 15 minutes of fame over here…

February 2nd, 2009serious r & r : proof

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Well: eat this! The top room, second from the right, was ours for three nights and I had to dive into the pool with some €5000 worth of gear hanging from my neck to provide you with this image. Place of crime: Bali. Just to make you feel better: I’m back, it snows outside and it’s 45° colder.

January 11th, 2009serious r & r

In my previous entry I wrote I’m better suited for warmer climates. Well, I really hate to break the news to you, but we’re heading there for some serious R&R. That means no updates on this site until somewhere in February. Til then & have fun in the meantime!

April 7th, 2008sports and politics don’t mix

This is the only shot I got of the Olympic flame on the Champs Elysees. Because of protests against China’s interference in Tibet, everyone got an exhilarating view of… nothing. Well, actually: of police in all it’s varieties. Plus one glimpse, one second, of the flame. I can’t really blame the protesters for seizing the moment but I just want sports to be what it’s all about, and politics ain’t on the list. As I’ve said before: I’m a barbarian…

January 30th, 2008singapore

One of the best things about Singapore, where we spent Christmas, is the abundance of delicious food in every variety one can imagine. Needless to say a lot of my images of the city are food-related. The result: either my clothes have shrunk or I have gained some weight over there. Luckily there’s an abundance of tailors too: I wonder if they’ve got a deal going on?

January 9th, 2008sunrise in paradise

Happy New Year! What better way to start 2008 with an image I shot just before Christmas on the tropical island of Ko Yao Noi (Thailand). Sunrises like this one greeted us each and every day while sitting in front of the little villa we rented at the (warning: shameless plug coming up) wonderful Ko Yao Island Resort. Fading away in the distance are the many limestone cliffs and islands of Phang Nga bay. Needless to say we had a wonderful time.
